Edmond Electric, builder team up for savings

EDMOND - People concerned with rising energy costs might want to pay close attention to the city’s first Edmond Electric Energy Efficient Home.

Edmond Electric has partnered with Red Rock Builders after promoting the need to produce an advanced energy efficient home, said Bob Corff, Edmond Electric energy services manager. Construction began Wednesday morning on the E4 home at 3716 Bonaire Place in the Cottages at Stonebridge addition.

Edmond will break ground on energy-efficient model home today

EDMOND - An effort to show how an ordinary home can be turned into an environmentally friendly, energy- and money-saving abode is under way today in Edmond.

Edmond Electric and partner Red Rock Builders will break ground on the Edmond Electric Energy Efficient Home, also known as the E4 Home, at 10 a.m. today at 3716 Bonaire Place in the Villages of Stonebridge housing addition in south Edmond.

The Environmentally Friendly E4 Home

Distinctly Oklahoma magazine, May, 2009 - The city of Edmond?s municipal electrical utility and an energy-conscious Edmond homebuilder have joined forces to develop what they hope will be a model home for the 21st century and perhaps even beyond.

Taking a concept developed by Edmond Electric, Red Rock constructed the e4home, one of the most conservation-conscious homes in Oklahoma.

Going Green: Edmond showcasing "e4 home

EDMOND ? Check out the latest in green homes at Edmond?s new e4 home with advanced sustainability and green features. The city of Edmond and Red Rock Builders will host a grand opening Saturday and Sunday at the home, 3716 Bonaire Place in the Villages of Stonebridge in south Edmond.

The home demonstrates the energy efficiency and affordability of green home construction. Through early summer, Edmond Electric will open the home for tours for those interested in learning about significantly reducing their energy costs. The The 2,192-square-foot home?s utility costs average about $100 per month.

The home?s energy-saving features include:

→Energy Recovery Vent that minimizes indoor air pollution.

→Dual-flush toilets that use less water when flushed.

→Geothermal climate control that uses less energy to heat and cool a home and provides hot water on demand without a hot water tank.
